Adam Phillips is “delighted” to see Bradford reach the Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals with a 2-0 victory over Peterborough.
Macaulay Gillesphey’s 13th-minute volley and Phillips’ 67th-minute deflected finish saw Bradford defeat Peterborough at Valley Parade last night (27 October), which secured a first Quarter-Final appearance in the competition since their run to the final in the 2012-13 season.
Phillips post-match revealed to the club website that he is chuffed to see Bradford qualify for the last eight, and end his wait for his first goal for the Bantams in his 17th appearance following his summer move from Barnsley.
“We scored two goals could have been probably more. I am just delighted to get through to the next round. The team put in a strong performance.
“I am really happy, and it is a relief. I have had a lot of chances. I hit the bar and had one cleared off the line, but I kept going and got there in the end.
“I am not used to missing that many chances. The two I had earlier in the game, I just got in my own head a little bit, so getting the goal was a massive relief.
“I enjoyed scoring my first goal in front of the supporters. The atmosphere was unbelievable.”
Bradford are now on a 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions and Phillips feels that the team is in a positive place even after Graham Alexander left for Preston, which led to the arrival of Michael Duff as his successor.
“We are in a good place and we are really hard to beat.
“The manager has come in and set out how he wants to play. He is slowly feeding in his ideas, and the lads are really taking to it.
“We just need to keep going, create a few more chances and score a few more goals. Now we will look forward to the draw.”
