2026-27 Premier League: Week Seven – Brentford vs Liverpool

Brentford look to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season against Liverpool.

Victory will see Brentford stay fourth in the table, whilst Liverpool can leapfrog the Bees but will only go fourth if Everton and Chelsea draw in the lunchtime kick-off

Team News

Kevin Schade and Jannik Schuster could both be available for Brentford despite having suffered respective shoulder and ankle injuries in their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

Nathan Collins (calf), Mikkel Damsgaard (ankle) and Antoni Milambo (knock) could feature in the matchday squad if pass fitness checks.

Josh Dasilva (hamstring) and Kaye Furo (metatarsal) remains absent.

Liverpool will be without Ryan Gravenberch due to suspension after he was red carded in their 3-0 league loss to Manchester City last Sunday.

Manager, Andoni Iraola otherwise has no fresh injury concerns to report following Liverpool’s 6-3 Champions League win at LASK on Wednesday evening.

Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring), Cody Gakpo (ankle) and Alexander Isak (thigh) face late fitness checks, but Giovanni Leoni (ACL), Conor Bradley (knee) and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford host Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 17 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have claimed just four points in their last seven league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L5).
  • Liverpool have won two of their five previous Premier League visits to Brentford (W2, D1, L2).
  • Brentford have claimed seven points at home this season (W2, D1), with both wins having been by 3-0 results against Tottenham and Chelsea respectively.
  • Liverpool have won both of their last two domestic away matches without conceding (W2), during which they scored three goals which were all netted by Alexander Isak.

Prediction

Still unbeaten this season and having battled to a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa despite Schuster and Schade’s injury issues in the absence of Damsgaard, Brentford probably will be glad that the former two players’ injuries weren’t serious and that Damsgaard could return if fit enough.

Keith Andrews’ Bees however will have to be at the top of their game because Liverpool have found their attacking form in recent games, yet conceding three goals against Man City and LASK shows how vulnerable the Reds are still defensively.

I therefore do expect goals here and wouldn’t be surprised if this is a high-scoring draw.

Prediction: Brentford 2-2 Liverpool
