2026-27 UEFA Champions League: League Phase – LASK vs Liverpool

LASK host Liverpool in their second league-phase match in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League.

Victory could put LASK into the knockout play-off spots, whilst Liverpool could climb into the top eight with a win.

Team News

Moses Usor is ruled out for LASK after he suffered a shoulder and stomach related injury during their 2-0 Austrian Bundesliga loss to Rapid Wien.

George Bello (muscle) and Ramiz Harakate (knee) remain absent.

Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-0 Premier League loss to Manchester City.

Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring), Cody Gakpo (ankle), Alexander Isak (thigh), Giovanni Leoni (ACL), Conor Bradley (knee) and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

LASK host Liverpool at Raiffeisen Arena, Linz, Austria, on Wednesday 14 October at 6:45pm CEST (5:45pm BST), live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is LASK’s first Champions League meeting against Liverpool.
  • Liverpool are making their first Champions League visit to LASK, but won 3-1 in their previous visit in the group stage of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.
  • Cody Gakpo is the only one of Liverpool’s four previous goalscorers against LASK to still be at the club, although he is ruled out of this match due to injury.
  • LASK are yet to beat English opposition at home in all UEFA competitions (D1, L2).
  • Liverpool have lost just one of 10 previous meetings against Austrian opposition in all UEFA competitions (W8, D1, L1).

Prediction

With nothing to lose as underdogs and winless in their last four matches, LASK just need to come out and try to play their best game but tighten up defensively otherwise this could be a struggle for them.

Liverpool meanwhile just lacked a clinical touch when on top against City before they just defensively collapsed once down to ten men, but this is the ideal chance to rebound immediately if they can just find their end product without Szoboszlai, Isak and Gakpo.

LASK though will smell a chance if they can keep it tight and frustrate Andoni Iraola’s Reds but I expect Liverpool to edge this.

Prediction: LASK 0-1 Liverpool
