Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Tino Livramento and Declan Rice have dropped out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad due to injury.

Palmer was recalled to the squad after a bright start to the season with four goals in seven appearances for Chelsea, but has dropped out in order to manage his fitness load after injuries affected him last season and saw him miss the World Cup due to a drop in form.

Morgan Gibbs-White consequently has been recalled to the squad in Palmer’s place after he was left out of the squad in November 2025, March 2026 and for this summer’s World Cup.

Mainoo meanwhile is absent after he suffered a knock in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Fulham in the Premier League, and has been replaced by James Garner.

Marcus Rashford is ruled out with a hip injury whilst Declan Rice has withdrawn due to a back strain, with the pair not replaced, alongside Tino Livramento who suffered a fresh unspecified injury that kept him out of Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Hull in the top flight.

England begin their UEFA Nations League campaign against reigning world champions, Spain at Wembley Stadium, London, on Saturday 26 September at 7:45pm BST, before they visit Czech Republic at Fortuna Arena, Prague, on Tuesday 29 September.

Tuchel’s Three Lions then head to Stadion Rujevica, Rijeka, on Saturday 3 October to face Croatia at 6pm CEST (5pm BST), before their international window concludes back at Wembley on Tuesday 6 October against Czech Republic in a 7:45pm BST kick-off.

All four fixtures will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
