Thomas Tuchel has named a 27-man squad for England’s UEFA Nations League fixtures between 26 September – 6 October 2026.
Noni Madueke, Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins have been dropped from the forward selection following their involvement in the Three Lions’ run to third place at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Rio Ngumoha recalled in the places of Toney and Watkins.
Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze meanwhile has been moved from midfield to replace Madueke in the forward selection, whilst Morgan Rogers too has been named in that section rather than midfield. .
In midfield, Myles Lewis-Skelly has been recalled whilst Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has replaced Jordan Henderson – with the latter still yet to make a first-team appearance since his move to Chelsea after he suffered a wrist injury after England’s Round of 16 win over Mexico at the World Cup.
Cole Palmer has also been named in the squad after having scored four goals in six appearances for Chelsea this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrad Branthwaite and Lewis Hall have been handed recalls in defence as Dan Burn, Reece James, Djed Spence and John Stones drop out, with Trevoh Chalobah having retained his spot after he was a late call-up for the World Cup due to a calf injury for Tino Livramento.
Livramento is too in the squad after having made a full recovery from the injury which forced him to withdraw from the World Cup, and has featured in three of Newcastle’s matches so far this season, albeit as a substitute to manage his return to full fitness.
With Dean Henderson absent due to an ankle injury, Brighton’s Jason Steele has been drafted into the goalkeeping selection for this international window, after he went to the World Cup as the training goalkeeper.
England begin their UEFA Nations League campaign against reigning world champions, Spain at Wembley Stadium, London, on Saturday 26 September at 7:45pm BST, before they visit Czech Republic at Fortuna Arena, Prague, on Tuesday 29 September.
Tuchel’s Three Lions then head to Stadion Rujevica, Rijeka, on Saturday 3 October to face Croatia at 6pm CEST (5pm BST), before their international window concludes back at Wembley on Tuesday 6 October against Czech Republic in a 7:45pm BST kick-off.
All four fixtures will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
