Red Bull have announced that Liam Lawson will partner Max Verstappen at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix in place of Isack Hadjar.

Hadjar had missed the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix due to a wrist injury but will now miss a third consecutive race, meaning that the earliest that he will return is at the Azerbaijan GP from 24-26 September in Baku.

Lawson consequently will again partner Verstappen for F1’s first visit to the Madring this weekend.

In a team statement, Red Bull confirmed that Isack will be present in Madrid to provide support to the team.

“After racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.

“The decision has been taken as Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively. While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.

“Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.”

Yuki Tsunoda will again fill Lawson’s seat at Racing Bulls in Madrid.
