Manchester City have signed defender, Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Wamser’s move comes after she spent just 12 months with Leverkusen where she scored twice in 20 appearances.
The 22-year-old right-back is excited for her new chapter and settling into life in Manchester, whilst acknowledging that this transfer marks a fresh chapter in her career and development.
“It feels very, very good. I had a perfect welcome here and I already feel very good here. I look forward to my time here in Manchester.
“The English league is the best league in the world and Manchester City are one of the best clubs in the world.
“I feel like I need the next step for my career and I feel that I can develop as a player here very well. And I like the challenge as well, so I think it’s the perfect step for me right now to [move to] Manchester.”
City’s Director of Football, Therese Sjogran added that City “are delighted” to sign Wamser who she believes will bring extra “energy” to the team.
“She is a player we’ve admired for some time and know she will bring energy, passion and a willingness to learn to the team.
“For such a young, exciting talent to trust us with the next step of her career is something we feel conveys a strong message of what we are building here at City.”
Wamser began her senior career at SGS Essen in 2020 before she spent three years at Eintracht Frankfurt followed by her stint at Leverkusen.
Wamser represents Germany at international level with two goals in 14 appearances since her debut in May 2025 in a 4-0 UEFA Women’s Nations League win over Netherlands as a substitute, and went on to be part of Germany’s run to the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 semi-finals.
