Aston Villa have signed forward, Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea for £65m.

Jackson’s move sees him reunited with manager, Unai Emery under who he scored three goals during their time together at Villarreal across October 2021 – October 2022, before Emery left to take up his current position at Villa.

Jackson meanwhile joined Chelsea just over eight months later but found himself frozen out of the team last season under Enzo Maresca, and instead was loaned out to Bayern Munich where he scored 11 goals in 34 appearances as they won the Bundesliga title.

The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Villa until June 2031 and will wear the number 9 shirt.

Jackson began his career at ASC Tilene before he moved to Villarreal in September 2019 where he played for their youth team before he was loaned out to Mirandes in the 2020-21 season, which saw him net one goal in 17 appearances.

Upon his return to Villarreal for the 2021-22 season, he made his professional debut that autumn and went on to make ten appearances under Emery without scoring, but the 22-23 campaign proved to be a breakthrough with 13 goals in 38 appearances.

He subsequently joined Chelsea in late June 2023 and scored 30 goals across his first two seasons at the club, before he was frozen out last summer by Maresca due to disciplinary issues on the pitch – having been red carded in a defeat at Newcastle  in May 2025 which left them with no striker in their last few games of 2024-25 season.

Jackson however enjoyed a positive loan spell at Bayern but failed to make enough appearances for the German club to trigger a permanent buy option in the loan deal.
