Dario Vidosic has departed Brighton & Hove Albion Women to become manager at NWSL’s Angel City.
Vidosic’s move comes after two years in charge of the Seagulls in which he led them to fifth and seventh-placed finishes in the Women’s Super League, and oversaw their run to the final of last season’s Women’s FA Cup where they lost to Manchester City.
Angel City however viewed him as the ideal managerial replacement following Alexander Straus’ departure in June, and were able to agree a compensation package with Brighton to sign Vidosic.
The 39-year-old has issued a farewell message to Brighton fans thanking them for their support alongside players and staff.
I have loved my time at the Albion and am proud of what we have achieved together. Leaving has been a difficult decision, but I believe it is the right time for me and my family to begin a new chapter.
“I would like to thank the players, staff and supporters for their support throughout my time at the club and wish everyone associated with Albion every success in the future.”
Brighton Women and Girls’ Managing Director, Zoe Johnson thanked Vidosic for his successful spell in charge and iterated that focus is still on preparing for the new WSL season and a new manager will be announced in due course.
“We would like to thank Dario for his contribution over the past two years. “During his time with the club, he led us to our highest-ever WSL finish and our first Women’s FA Cup final. We naturally are disappointed, but respect his decision to pursue a new challenge and wish him every success for the future.
“Our priority now is on recruiting our new head coach and continuing our preparation ahead of the start of the Women’s Super League season next weekend.”
