Brazil forward, Joao Pedro has signed a new eight-year contract at Chelsea until June 2034.
Pedro joined the Blues from Brighton in July 2025 and helped them win the FIFA Club World Cup with goals in the semi-finals and finals, and went on to register 20 goals and six assists in 50 appearances across his first full season at the club.
Chelsea consequently opted to tie him down to a new eight-year contract until June 2034, with Pedro delighted to sort his future.
“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,” commented the 24-year-old Brazilian. “I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future.
“I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home here in London from the moment that I joined.
“Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things, we have a great team, we have a coach who wants to win and has won already. I am fully committed, everyone is ready and hopefully we can achieve our targets.”
Manager, Xabi Alonso added: “We talk a lot with Joao because he’s not just a great player, but also a great person,’ Alonso said of the Brazilian international. ‘He has a great personality within the group.
“I think that his development as a great player and as a leader is very noticeable every day, and in each game. He has this focus and this desire to have a great season, to score goals, but he is also focused on helping the team.
“I’m very happy with Joao and with this news [signing a new contract]. I’m very impressed with his personality and now we need to help him in reaching his goals.”
