2026-27 Sky Bet Championship: Week Two – Sunday

West Bromwich Albion meet Burnley in the last clash of this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship action.

West Brom can go as high as second with victory if win by two or more goals, whilst Burnley can climb as high as third with a win.

Team News

Aune Heggebo is suspended for West Brom after he received a two-match ban for deceiving the referee for his handball goal in the Baggies’ 2-1 win at Norwich.

Ousmane Diakite (knock) is a doubt but Tammer Bany (hamstring) remains absent.

Burnley could welcome Connor Roberts back into contention after a knock kept him out of their 2-2 draw against West Ham.

Anel Ahmedhodzic could make his first start since he joined from Feyenoord on Thursday evening.

Jordan Beyer (thigh), Josh Cullen (knee), Jaydon Banel (unspecified) and Enock Agyei (fitness) are ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

West Brom host Burnley at The Hawthorns on Sunday 23 August at 12pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Having lost Heggebo to suspension following a dirty handball goal in their win at Norwich, West Brom still can take confidence in the clinical nature of their win because they were outplayed in attack but crucially executed their own chances which they will again have to do here.

Burnley meanwhile seem to love drawing games so far this season after they drew 1-1 against Notts County in the first round of Carabao Cup, then came from 2-0 down to draw against West Ham in their league opener, but they were wasteful in a strong attacking display until his late goals.

I therefore am expecting a tight competitive scrap but Burnley really should have the quality to unlock that first win of the season.

Prediction: WBA 1-2 Burnley
