Salford City face another tricky test as they entertain Chesterfield on the second matchweek of the 2026-27 Sky Bet League Two season.
With both teams having lost their opening-day matches, victory would lift either team further up the table.
Teams
Salford have no fresh injury concerns to report after a 3-1 loss at Barnet, with Jorge Grant and Daniel Udoh tipped to return to the starting line-up.
Chesterfield too have no fresh injury concerns to report after a 1-0 loss to Fleetwood Town.

When is Kick-Off?
Salford host Chesterfield at Peninsula Stadium on Saturday 22 August at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Salford are yet to beat Chesterfield in League Two (D1, L3).
- Chesterfield have won both of their two previous League Two visits to Salford (W2), having won 4-0 in March 2025 then 1-0 in January 2026.
- Salford are unbeaten in their last seven regular-season home games (W6, D1).
- Chesterfield have kept clean sheets in two of their last four away regular-season matches (W3, D1).
Prediction
Having been clinically outplayed at Barnet in a high-attacking contest, Salford must reset and try and be more polished in their end product and I think the home crowd will help them given their solid home form at the back end of last season.
Chesterfield meanwhile have their own point to prove after a narrow loss against Fleetwood in a game where they too were wasteful in their end product, but they crucially are yet to suffer an EFL defeat in this fixture which will give them a confidence boost.
Either way, I am expecting a serious response from both teams who will again harbour promotion ambitions so a draw feels like a likely call.
Prediction: Salford 1-1 Chesterfield
Result: Salford 0-1 Chesterfield
