Defender, Lloyd Jones has signed a new two-year contract at Charlton Athletic until June 2028.
Since his arrival in June 2023 from Cambridge United, Lloyd has scored six goals in 123 appearances and helped the Addicks gain promotion from League One to the Championship via the 2025 EFL Play-Offs, in a 2024-25 season which saw him named in League One’s Team of the Season.
He went on to contribute to Charlton’s successful return to the Championship last season with more clearances (439) and aerial duel wins (276) than any other player in the second tier.
Charlton subsequently tied the 30-year-old defender down to a new two-year contract on the eve of the new season, with Jones delighted to stay at The Valley for two more seasons.
“I’m absolutely buzzing. I’ve loved every minute since I’ve been here and long may it continue. I’ve had the best years of my career here and it feels like a home to me.”
Manager, Nathan Jones added: “We’re delighted that Lloyd’s extended his stay with us. I knew him from signing him at Luton as I’ve said on numerous occasions, and he’s now matured into the player that I always knew that he was.
“He’s been a pillar in our success, both in the promotion year and last year. His consistency has been excellent and he’s been one of the best defenders in the division, so we’re delighted to extend our time working with him.”
