Chelsea have signed left-back, Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Chavarria’s move was completed following a prolonged period of negotiations between both clubs, with the 28-year-old having now signed a five-year contract until June 2031.
“I’m so excited to get started,” explained Chavarria. ‘This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a big opportunity but I am prepared and will work hard to help the team achieve success.
“There are a lot of people who have helped me get to this moment and I have to thank my family. They have always supported me and today is only possible because of them.”
Chavarria began his career at Figueres where he graduated through their academy into the first team and made 36 appearances, before he moved to UE Olot where he scored three goals in 52 appearances between 2018-20.
He then spent two years at Real Zaragoza where he managed one goal in 76 appearances before he moved to Rayo Vallecano in August 2022, which saw him net twice in 125 appearances and last season helped them finish runners-up in the UEFA Conference League to Crystal Palace.
