Coventry City have signed central defender, Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt for £17.1m.

Amenda’s move ends his two-year spell at Frankfurt where he made 42 appearances in all competitions, with the 22-year-old defender having now signed a four-year contract with Coventry until June 2030 after a £17.1m bid was officially accepted.

Coventry have paid an initial £15.4m fee but £1.7m in add-ons will take the total transfer fee to £17.1m once the various clauses are met.

Speaking to ccfc.co.uk about his move, Amenda spoke of his happiness at completing the transfer and playing under Frank Lampard.

“I’m really happy and it’s a privilege to be here. After the first call with the gaffer, I felt the trust and I liked the project, so I feel this is a really good step for me.

“I cannot wait to meet everyone at the Club, especially the fans but of course my teammates.”

Amenda also teased what fans can expect as he added: “I like to defend my goal but I like to play, I’m really calm with the ball so I can help the team with this. I want to win, I want to help the team and help the Club succeed.

“I’m really looking forward to playing in this beautiful stadium, to meet the fans, to celebrate with them, to win with them. I want to score here as well so I can’t wait to get started.”

Amenda began his career with Switzerland’s Young Boys where he graduated through their academy to make 42 senior appearances before he joined Eintracht Frankfurt in February 2024, only to be loaned back to the Swiss club until the end of that season where he made 15 further appearances.

Amenda represents Switzerland at international level with seven senior appearances, and was part of their squad which reached the Quarter-Finals of 2026 FIFA World Cup.
