Julien Stephan has signed a new contract with QPR just 13 months after he arrived at the club.
Stephan arrived at QPR in June 2025 on an initial two-year contract following Marti Cifuentes’ sacking and led the Hoops to a 15th-placed finish in the Championship.
QPR however have now decided to avoid any speculation about his future beyond this season by tying him down to a new contract of an unspecified length.
“It feels natural to continue – there is a great feeling between myself and the club,” explained Stephan to www.qpr.co.uk as he addressed his happiness at his new contract and ambition to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
“I just want to thank the owners and thank Christian for the confidence – I am very happy to continue this journey with the club.
“I’m convinced that at the end we can give a lot of joy to the fans – it’s really important.
“We know exactly that the objective of the club in the mid to long term is to reach the play-offs – and more than access the play-offs, to play in the Premier League.
“For me we must continue to build step-by-step, but it’s really important to keep our ambition all together.
“We know where we want to go at the end of the journey. But we have to continue to build something very strong together, on and off the pitch, in terms of mindset, in terms of working, and how we want to develop the players.”
Stephan also acknowledged the importance of his family to him and praised them for how they have settled into London.
“My family is very important for me – my wife, my children,” added Stephan on how well his family has settled and learned about the values of supporting QPR.
“It’s perfect for them here in England, London. The link that we’ve created all together – we want to continue and we want to push all together for the club.
“I understood very well last year what it means to be a QPR fan, and it means a lot for all of us. That’s why it’s really, really important to give the supporters the best that we can on the pitch and to make them proud of what they see.
“I have a lot of memories already and I hope we will have more and more this season – I hope we will do a top season all together.”
QPR CEO, Christian Nourry praised Stephan for how he “… has brought positivity, energy and has begun to return the club to an era of more vibrant, attacking football.2
Nourry added that he is excited to see how Stephan can develop his playing squad and build further up the Championship table.
“From a human perspective, I cannot speak highly enough of the integrity of the person and the coach.
“We are excited to move forward together with the ambitions of achieving success on the pitch, more development of our playing group and hopefully more euphoric moments shared between our amazing supporters and a coaching and playing staff who are working with great dedication in this pre-season to prepare themselves for 2026/27.”
