Brentford have signed winger, Jaidon Anthony from Burnley for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Anthony’s move to West London has ended his two-year spell at Burnley – initially on loan in 2024-25 season before he joined permanently last summer – in which he contributed 17 goals and 10 assists in 83 appearances.
He also helped the Clarets claim promotion to the Premier League at the end of his first season at Turf Moor, only for them to suffer instant relegation back to the Championship at the end of last season.
His performances however led Brentford to swoop quickly to sign him on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, with option for a further year which could see him playing at the Gtech Community Stadium until June 2031.
Brentford Head Coach, Keith Andrews is “delighted” to sign Jaidon who he believes excelled at Burnley despite their struggles last season, and would fit the Bees’ culture and boost their wide attacking options.
“He did really well last season, which is difficult in a team that got relegated. After meeting him, it became very evident that he’d fit into the culture of the club and add to the squad.
“He still has so much more room for growth and improvement, and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
Anthony credited Andrews for his decision to join the club and return to his home city after a decade away from London.
“I like the way he speaks and the way he wants to play football,” said Anthony, talking about the Bees boss. “From the first conversation we had, I knew I wanted to play here.
“It’s also the direction the club wants to go in as well. It’s obviously been a positive few years for Brentford and hopefully we can keep building on that. It’s an opportunity for me to step up and show my ability at this level.
“I’ve been away from London for a long time, so it’s really nice and exciting that I can come home and be around my family and my friends. I’m sure that’ll help me settle in a lot quicker as well.”
Anthony also teased fans that they can expect him to be creating chances for his teammates to deliver goals on and off the ball.
“I’m a winger who likes to try and create chances and score goals, and try and be a positive impact on the team. Not just on the ball, I work really hard off the ball.
“I’m sure Brentford fans will see me working my socks off for them and trying to represent the badge in the best way possible. Hopefully I can bring that and add another dimension to what is already an amazing squad.”
He also pledged to give the club badge every effort that he has within him to excite fans.
“I will always give 100 per cent for the badge and try to represent them and the club in the best way possible. Hopefully, I can also excite you and get you off your seats as well.”
