Arsenal have signed forward, Selina Cerci from Hoffenheim on a free transfer.

Cerci’s move to North London comes after she scored 34 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions in the last two seasons at Hoffenheim.

The 26 year-old forward in her first interview on the club’s official website spoke of her joy at moving to Arsenal and testing herself in the Women’s Super League.

“I’m very excited to be here – it’s a big honour to play for Arsenal and I can’t wait to start,” commented Selina on her new club. “This is an opportunity to compete against and play alongside top players in one of the best leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and walking out at Emirates Stadium in front of all our supporters.”

Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Renee Slegers added: “I’m so pleased that Selina will be joining our group. She has impressive goalscoring numbers and brings good presence, physicality and forward intent. Combined with her strong work ethic, we feel these qualities make her a great addition to our squad.”

Cerci began her career at Holstein Kiel and Magdeburger FFC in Germany before she moved to Bayern Munich in 2017, where she scored 15 goals in 22 appearances for their second team which earned her a transfer to Werder Bremen where she delivered 19 goals in 29 total appearances across two seasons.

She subsequently enjoyed spells with Turbine Potsdam and FC Koln before her stint at Hoffenheim.

Cerci represents Germany at international level and made her senior international debut in February 2022 against Spain at Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough, in the opening match of that year’s Arnold Clark Cup as the clash ended in a 1-1 draw.

She has since gone on to score five goals in 20 appearances for Germany.
