Six Key Pointers
- High downforce set-ups will be important around Silverstone but a compromise will be needed in order to maximise straight-line speed on the various straights.
- Exit traction will be crucial out of several corners in order to defend on the various straights across the circuit.
- As a home event for many teams who have UK-based factories, there could be various upgrades introduced across the grid this weekend.
- Having successfully introduced upgrades in Austria but struggled with the scorching temperatures, Ferrari will hope that Silverstone will produce ideal conditions to properly showcase their improvements.
- Typical UK summer weather means that there is a chance of rain across the weekend, although Friday is forecast to be dry with uncertainty over Saturday and Sunday.
- With this round being a sprint weekend, teams will need to maximise their single practice session if want to have a strong weekend.
Last Time Out
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen led the race from pole in a wet-to-dry race in 2025 but lost position to Oscar Piastri and Norris by the end of lap 11, only to jump Norris in the first round of stops.
Two safety cars followed but at the end of the second safety car period on lap 21, Piastri braked just too heavily which allowed Verstappen to briefly pass him, and earned him a ten-second time penalty for the incident whilst Verstappen spun down the order at Stowe.
Norris eventually capitalised on Pisatri’s penalty to claim his maiden home win after having inherited the lead when Piastri made his final stop at the end of lap 43, whilst Nico Hulkenberg achieved his first podium in F1 and ended his 16-year wait for a single-seater podium since he won the 2009 F2 Portuguese Feature Race.
