DR Congo meet Uzbekistan in their final Group K match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Victory would see DR Congo mathematically progress as one of eight best third-placed teams, whilst Uzbekistan can finish third with a win but would need at least a four-goal swing to stand any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Team News
DR Congo have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-0 loss to Colombia.
Uzbekistan too have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 5-0 loss to Portugal.
When is Kick-Off?
DR Congo meet Uzbekistan at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, USA, on Saturday 27 June at 7:30pm EDT (00:30am BST, Sunday 28 June), live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is DR Congo’s first World Cup meeting against Uzbekistan.
- Uzbekistan are meeting DR Congo for the first time in all competitions.
- DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa has drawn four fouls from oppositional players in two appearances.
- Uzbekistan has converted just 4 of their 15 shots onto target, of which just one of those shots resulted in a goal.
Prediction
With only victory set to be enough to absolutely make sure of a knockout spot amongst the third-placed teams, DR Congo now have to show more attacking quality than they managed against Colombia who absolutely dominated them.
Uzbekistan meanwhile would of been eying this match up as their decider but after their demolition at the hands of Portugal, they need to be absolutely defensively solid but equally ruthless in their end product from the get-go otherwise they’re out.
I sadly do think that Uzbekistan will crash out of the tournament as DR Congo should have enough quality to get a routine win.
Prediction: DR Congo 2-0 Uzbekistan
