2026 FIFA World Cup: Group I – Norway vs Senegal

Norway meet Senegal in a crucial Group I showdown at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Victory would see Norway qualify for the knockout stages, whilst Senegal must win to keep their hopes of finishing in the top two alive – otherwise they can only finish third at best if France beat Iraq in the other Group I match.

Team News

Norway have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 4-1 victory against Iraq.

Senegal too have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 loss to France.

When is Kick-Off?

Norway face Senegal at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, USA, on Monday 22 June at 8pm EDT (1am BST, Tuesday 23 June), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Prediction

Having clinically dispatched Iraq in a largely dominant performance, Norway now can’t get complacent because this is their first proper test of the tournament but I am confident that they can get something if they play with the same composure that swept Iraq aside.

Senegal meanwhile were just wasteful against France for large parts of their clash when on top so they realistically must put together a more clinical performance with composure, otherwise this group is pretty much done and they will be looking at qualification as one of eight third-placed team at best.

Norway though have a very difficult final group match against France so I expect them to be right up for this game to secure their knockout spot, especially as all the pressure is on Senegal which makes for a competitive battle hopefully.

Prediction: Norway 2-1 Senegal

Result: Norway 3-2 Senegal
