2026 FIFA World Cup: Group C – Scotland vs Morocco

Scotland face Morocco in a decisive Group C encounter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Victory would see Scotland stay top of the group and their progress to the knockout stages would be confirmed if Brazil draw their Group C match against Haiti.

Morocco meanwhile could go top of the group with a win.

Team News

Scott McKenna is a doubt for Scotland after he missed their 1-0 victory over Haiti with a calf injury.

Morocco could be without goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou after he suffered a shoulder injury during their 1-1 draw against Brazil, although he has participated in training this week following a scan.

When is Kick-Off?

Scotland face Morocco at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, on Friday 19 June at 6pm EDT (11pm BST), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Scotland lost 3-0 to Morocco in their only previous World Cup meeting which took place in the 1998 edition.
  • Morocco will be looking to preserve their clean sheet record against Scotland – having not met since that clash in 1998.
  • Scotland’s two shots on target against Haiti were produced by John McGinn and Che Adams who both put one shot each accurately towards goal – with McGinn’s sole shot on target proving the winner.
  • 12 of Morocco’s 14 shots against Brazil were produced by Brahim Diaz, Achraf Hakimi, Neil El Aynaoui and Ismael Saibari – with the quartet having produced three shots each.

Prediction

Having dug deep to edge past Haiti with a clinical rebound winner, Scotland now have a great chance to qualify for the knockouts with a game to spare if can bring the same resilient quality but with more composure to make it less nervy than the win over Haiti should of been.

Morocco though are a strong team who are rightly favourites given their talent and they made the best of their attacking spells against Brazil in terms of shots, even though just three of their 14 shots were on target so I am expecting a more polished display now they’ve settled in.

I however do think that defensively both teams could cancel each other out such is the gutsy defending on offer at the back within both teams, but Morocco should win this as they look the more clinical yet I just can see Scotland somehow grinding a point out of this.

Prediction: Scotland 1-1 Morocco
