Brentford have triggered contract extensions for Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry and Mathias Jensen until the end of 2026-27 season.
Dasilva’s extension comes after he made just two appearances in Brentford’s final four matches of the season, having missed over two years of action due to a serious knee injury suffered in February 2024.
The 27-year-old midfielder has scored 22 goals in 159 total appearances and like Henry and Jensen, he was part of the squad which won promotion to the Premier League in May 2021.
Head Coach, Keith Andrews has welcomed the decision to give Dasilva a new contract and is aiming for the midfielder to be firmly in his starting plans next season if he stays fit in pre-season.
“I’m delighted Josh is back involved in first-team football and staying at the club.
“Everybody knows the journey that he’s been on to get back on the pitch. It was a really emotional moment a few weeks ago when he returned against West Ham.
“The plan for Josh is to have a really good pre-season and build him up so he can be fighting for a starting position come the start of next season.”
Henry has completed his 10th season with the Bees in which he scored five goals in 239 appearances but a hamstring injury has kept him sidelined since early March.
“Rico is somebody who knows the culture and the fabric of the club really well, and I’m really glad he’ll be here for another year,” reflected Andrews who is happy with Henry’s performances this season and is confident that he can bounce back next season.
“It was a real shame when Rico got injured away at Bournemouth. When you look at his performances up until that point, I think they coincided with the team playing really, really well and clicking over that period. Some of those performances were much old-school Rico.
“Like Josh, it’s important Rico has a good off-season going into pre-season and then we can hopefully get him back raring to go for the start of next season.”
Jensen has completed his seventh season at the club in which he netted five goals and contributed three assists in his latest campaign, with Andrews proud of the Danish midfielder’s campaign on and off the pitch and was keen to extend his contract into next season.
“Mathi had a brilliant season.
“He’s been huge behind the scenes with understanding everything about the club, how it works and the culture.
“He’s played a big part both on and off the pitch and his performances last season were of a very, very high level.
“Naturally, I was very keen for Mathi to stay.”
Jensen has scored 17 goals in 275 total appearances for the Bees since his move from Celta Vigo in July 2019.
