2025-26 Sky Bet League Two Final Preview

Salford City meet Notts County in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final as the 2025-26 EFL season draws to its conclusion.

Victory would see Salford promoted to League One for the first time in their history, whilst Notts County seek a return to the third tier for the first time since 2014-15 season.

Team News

Salford have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-2 semi-final second-leg draw at home to Grimsby.

Jay Bird (Achilles), Dan Chesters (ACL), Jorge Grant (knock) and Michael Rose (leg) remain absent.

Notts County too have no fresh injury concerns after their 1-0 aggregate win over Chesterfield, following a goalless semi-final second leg at Meadow Lane.

Lewis Macari (leg), Matty Platt (ACL) and Harald Tangen (unspecified) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Salford face Notts County at Wembley Stadium, London, on Bank Holiday Monday at 3pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Football channels in the UK.

Prediction

Despite being the lowest goalscoring team of this season’s League Two Play-Offs, Salford are not a team to underestimate because they showed grit and determination to edge past Grimsby and they also beat Notts County 2-1 in both of their two regular-season clashes.

Notts County though feel like slight favourites given how defensively resilient they were across both legs of their semi-final against Chesterfield – in which their first leg win was the difference, but their top goalscorers hasn’t exactly delivered since late March.

I therefore would like to see Matthew Dennis, Alassana Jatta and Jodi Jones step up now because this is a do-or-die decider rather than rely on players like Nicholas Tsaroulla and Jayden Luker to drag them over the line.

Wembley though does seem to be a comfortable stage for Salford and I just feel that the Ammies might have too much for Notts County, but if the Magpies play like they did against Chesterfield then I can see extra time brewing.

Prediction: Salford 2-1 (AET) Notts County
