2025-26 Premier League: Week 37 – Newcastle vs West Ham

Newcastle United host relegation-battling West Ham in a crucial Premier League encounter.

Victory would lift Newcastle as high as 11th depending on results elsewhere, whilst West Ham will move out of the relegation zone with a win and up to 17th until at least Tuesday evening.

Team News

Joelinton is a doubt for Newcastle due to a thigh injury suffered in training, but manager – Eddie Howe otherwise has no fresh injury concerns specifically from their 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Lewis Miley (fibula), Emil Krafth (knee), Tino Livramento (thigh) and Fabian Schar (foot) remain absent.

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-0 loss to Arsenal last Sunday.

Adama Traore (muscle) and Lukasz Fabianski (back) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Newcastle host West Ham at St James’ Park on Sunday 15 May at 5:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League channels in the UK.

Prediction

With European qualification now very unlikely barring a dramatically miraculous set of results in their favour if they win their last two matches, Newcastle now are in a situation where they’re preparing for next season realistically but I still expect them to at least produce a performance for the home fans.

West Ham though know that anything less than a win would effectively relegate them given their inferior goal difference to Tottenham’s, but they now need to get their clinical finishing boots back on after two wasteful displays against Brentford and Arsenal.

Although I expect Newcastle to bring some fight to give the home fans who aren’t heading to their season-ending game at Fulham some hope heading into next season, this does feel like West Ham’s to lose as they have everything to play for unlike the Magpies.

My instinct is honestly that West Ham will finally click again in their end product and get the win to put Spurs back into the bottom three ahead of their trip to Chelsea, which would take relegation to the final day at least with it being Tottenham needing a miracle to stay up given their poor record at Stamford Bridge.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 West Ham

Result: Newcastle 3-1 West Ham
