Ipswich Town have signed forward, Chuba Akpom on a permanent transfer from Ajax.
Akpom initially joined Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys on loan in August 2025 and managed two goals in 31 appearances, but various clauses were met, which necessitated the activation of Ipswich’s option to sign him permanently for an undisclosed transfer fee.
In a club statement on Ipswich’s website, Ipswich confirmed that Akpom has signed a three-year contract off the back of their promotion to the Premier League.
‘Ipswich Town is pleased to confirm Chuba Akpom will join the Blues on a permanent deal.
‘The forward, 30, moved to Portman Road on loan from Ajax in the summer of 2025, with a permanent move subsequently triggered during the course of the 2025/26 season.
‘Chuba made a total of 31 appearances throughout the course of the campaign, with goals against Hull City and Oxford United coming in vital victories to help Town secure promotion to the Premier League.
‘The permanent deal for Chuba, which runs until 2029, will come into effect from 1 July.’
Kipre Joins on Permanent Transfer
Akpom isn’t the only loan signing to convert his deal into a permanent transfer after Ipswich also met the clauses to sign Cedric Kipre on a permanent contract for an undisclosed transfer fee from Reims, following a campaign in which he scored three goals in 35 appearances across all competitions.
Kipre’s contract will run until June 2028 and the 29-year-old defender is excited to be part of the club moving forward.
It feels brilliant to be officially part of this massive club after everything we have achieved together,” explained Kipre as he reflected on his season at Portman Road and extending his stay.
“I have loved being here since the first day I arrived. Everyone welcomed me so well and it didn’t feel like I was on loan, so I’m delighted to become a permanent player.
“I can’t wait for next season and it will mean a lot to represent this club in the Premier League. It’s been my dream and I’m very, very happy.”
