2025-26 League One: Week 41 – Plymouth vs Bolton

Plymouth Argyle host Bolton Wanderers in a massive Good Friday showdown in League One.

Victory could put Plymouth as high as sixth if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Bolton could move to within eight points of second-placed Cardiff with a win.

Team News

Plymouth could welcome Lorent Tolaj (leg), Caleb Watts (calf) and Herbie Kane (ineligibility) back into contention following the international break, with Kane having only missed their 3-1 win over Huddersfield due to being on loan from the Terriers.

Brendan Galloway (knock) faces a late fitness check, but  Bradley Ibrahim, Matty Sorinola (ankle), Tegan Finn, Joe Ralls (both hamstring) and Julio Pleguezuelo (calf) remain absent.

Bolton have no fresh injury concerns to report after the international break.

Amario Cozier-Duberry (knee) and Corey Blackett-Taylor (thigh) are ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Plymouth host Bolton on Good Friday 3 April at Home Park in a 3pm BST kick-off, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

With just one defeat in their last nine matches, Plymouth have to feel that they’ve got the momentum after their fortnight off heading into a favourable run-in, but they will need to ideally get a win here because any slip-up could prove costly in the play-off chase come the final day.

Bolton meanwhile are in a slightly tricky situation of having virtually nearly sewn up their play-off spot but are 11 points off the last automatic spot which is unlikely to swing their way, so they realistically just need to try and keep winning until the maths say otherwise.

Plymouth are however quite a bogey club for Bolton in their recent visits to the South Coast so I do expect this to be close, but the Pilgrims on current form should nick it.

Prediction: Plymouth 2-1 Bolton

Result: Plymouth 1-2 Bolton
