Brighton & Hove Albion face a tough Premier League test against Liverpool as both clubs battle for European qualification.
If Bournemouth lose on Friday evening, victory would lift Brighton up to eighth for at least a few hours.
Liverpool can climb to fourth with a win.
Team News
Kaoru Mitoma is set to return for Brighton after he was sidelined by an ankle injury in recent weeks.
Stefanos Tzimas (ACL) and Adam Webster (knee) remain sidelined.
Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah after he suffered a muscle injury during their 4-0 home win against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.
Joe Gomez (unspecified) is a doubt, but Wataru Endo (ankle), Alex Isak (leg), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Brighton host Liverpool at AMEX Stadium on Saturday 21 March at 12:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brighton have claimed four points from two of their last five league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L3).
- Liverpool have won just one of their last five league visits to Brighton (W1, D2, L2).
- Each of Brighton’s last two home matches against Liverpool ended in 3-2 results, as Liverpool won their Carabao Cup clash in October in 2024 before the Seagulls won the league clash in May 2025.
- Brighton have won three of their last four matches (W3, L1).
- Liverpool have avoided defeat in four of their last six league matches away from home (W2, D2, L2).
Prediction
Having won three of their last four matches, Brighton are back on the cusp of the race for seventh but they can’t afford many more slips up as they’re five points adrift of Brentford, although they were lucky to snatch a clinical if lucky win at Sunderland in a fairly even contest.
Liverpool meanwhile haven’t exactly been the most consistent as evidenced by a sloppy 1-1 draw against Tottenham in the league on Sunday then 4-0 Champions League demolition of Galatasaray, so it’s tough to know what sort of performance to expect.
Nevertheless if Brighton can keep doing what they’re currently doing in terms of their improvement, I can see them finding a way to hold Liverpool.
Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Liverpool
Result: Brighton 2-1 Liverpool
