2025-26 UCL Round of 16: Second Leg – Liverpool vs Galatasaray

Liverpool face an uphill task against Galatasaray in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Trailing 1-0 on aggregate, Liverpool must win by a two-goal margin to secure their place in the Quarter-Finals but an one-goal winning margin would send the tie to extra time and potentially penalties.

Galatasaray simply need to avoid defeat to guarantee their spot in the last eight.

Team News

Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw against Tottenham in the Premier League.

Wataru Endo (ankle), Alex Isak (leg), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) remain absent.

Galatasaray have no fresh injury concerns after their domestic win over Basaksehir.

Enes Buyuk (shoulder) is ruled out whilst Metehan Baltaci, Gokdeniz Gurpuz and Renato Nhaga are ineligible.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday 18 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Prediction

After their sloppy first leg where they weren’t clinical enough, Liverpool really should of done better against a low-confidence Tottenham once ahead yet they were again wasteful and punished in the closing minutes, so it is imperative that they get the opening goal here and kick on if want a Quarter-Final spot.

Galatasaray meanwhile have a poor away record in this season’s Champions League but if they can play with the same clinical quality which saw them win the first leg, you have to fancy them to nick a draw if can frustrate in the way that Spurs did then pounce with a late goal.

I however do think that Liverpool should realistically prove too strong at home but Galatasaray won’t make this easy in front of the Anfield faithful.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Galatasaray

Result: Liverpool 4-0 Galatasaray (Liverpool win 4-1 on aggregate)
