Southampton continue their play-off push against Norwich in a rearranged Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory will lift Southampton up to sixth in the table, whilst Norwich can climb to tenth and move to within six points of the play-off spots.
Team News
Southampton could welcome Leo Scienza and Ross Stewart back from a groin injury and knock respectively, subject to late fitness checks.
Mads Roerslev (Achilles), Jay Robinson (quad) and Welington (muscle) remain absent.
Norwich could be without Ben Chrisene after he suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-0 win at home to Preston.
Ruari McConville (knee) is a doubt after he missed their last two matches, but Daniel Grimshaw (calf) is still ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Southampton host Norwich at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday 18 March at 7:45pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Southampton have won one of their last five league meetings against Norwich (W1, D2, L2).
- Norwich are winless in their last eight league visits to Southampton (D3, L5).
- Southampton have kept one clean sheet in their last three home matches against Norwich (W2, D1).
- Southampton have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home matches in the Championship (W3, D1).
- Norwich have won three of their last four league matches by 2-0 results, whilst the other match in that period ended in a 2-1 win at home to Sheffield United.
Prediction
Unbeaten in their last 12 matches in all competitions and having stunned Coventry last time out with a clinical performance, Southampton now have a great opportunity to climb into the play-off spots but they still need to keep their focus and not let the play-off position lure distract them.
Norwich though have found similar form albeit with three defeats in their last 14 games in all competitions and clinically dispatched Preston last weekend, so I do expect them to pose a tough test despite their recent poor away record at St Mary’s Stadium.
The first goal in my opinion will be vital but my instinct is that both teams have enough in them to cancel each other out on current form.
Prediction: Southampton 1-1 Norwich
Result: Southampton 1-0 Norwich
