2025-26 UCL Round of 16: Second Leg – Chelsea vs PSG

Chelsea face an uphill struggle in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie against PSG in 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Trailing 5-2 on aggregate, Chelsea simply must win by a four-goal margin or wider in order to advance to the Quarter-Finals.

PSG meanwhile must simply avoid defeat if they’re to reach the last eight and continue their title defence.

Team News

Pedro Neto is available for Chelsea after he missed their 1-0 Premier League loss against Newcastle due to suspension, which was handed out by the FA late on Friday afternoon.

Reece James however is ruled out after he suffered a hamstring injury during the second half of that match.

Malo Gusto (illness) and Estevao (hamstring) face late fitness checks but Filip Jorgensen (groin), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (hamstring), Levi Colwill (ACL) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension) are still sidelined.

PSG have no fresh injury concerns after the first leg of this tie, with their Ligue 1 clash against Nantes having been postponed to give them maximum rest time.

Fabian Ruiz (knee) and Quentin Ndjantou (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Chelsea host PSG at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 17 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Chelsea are winless in their last five Champions League meetings against PSG (D2, L3).
  • PSG have avoided defeat in three of their four previous Champions League visits to Chelsea (W1, D2, L1).
  • Chelsea have scored 10 goals and conceded one goal in their four home matches in this season’s Champions League.
  • PSG have kept one clean sheet in their five away games in this season’s Champions League (W3, D1, L1).

Prediction

With a three-goal deficit after the first leg, Chelsea really could of done with a positive result against Newcastle to lift their belief yet they were just wasteful despite their second-half dominance after an evenly-matched first half, so the first goal here is imperative to their hopes of a second-leg comeback.

PSG meanwhile have unfairly had extra days to prepare after repeating their dirty trick of postponing league games in-between legs of last season, so I expect them to be right up for this match if they bring the same quality as they did at home which ripped the Blues’ defence apart late on.

PSG though can afford to relax slightly unless they concede twice which would then create some nerves amongst their players, but I do think that they will treat this like their other games as a must-win to continue their momentum and their attack should beat a Chelsea side without James and possibly Gusto.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 PSG

Result: Chelsea 0-3 PSG (PSG win 8-2 on aggregate)
