2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week 38 – Tuesday

Watford host Wrexham in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash in the race for the play-offs.

Victory would see Watford move up to ninth in the table, whilst Wrexham can climb to fifth with a win.

Team News

Watford have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-1 loss at Stoke.

Jeremy Petris (shoulder), Jeremy Ngakia, Rocco Vata (both hamstring), Othmane Maamma (quad) and Kwadwo Baah (knock), Hector Kyprianou (hand) and Pierre Dwomoh (thigh) remain absent.

Wrexham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-0 home win against Swansea.

George Dobson (suspension), Kieffer Moore (tendon), Matty James (toe), Liberato Cacace (hamstring) and Ben Sheaf (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Watford host Wrexham at Vicarage Road on Tuesday 17 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK, with the match having been rearranged due to Wrexham’s recent involvement in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Stat Attack

  • Watford have won one of their last five meetings against Wrexham (W1, D3, L1).
  • Wrexham are winless in their last five visits to Watford (D1, L4).
  • Watford have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home matches against Wrexham (W3, D1), except for a 1-1 draw in October 1996.
  • Watford have claimed four points in their last five home matches (W1, D1, L3).
  • Ollie Rathbone has scored in both of Wrexham’s last two away matches (W1, D1).

Prediction

Having slipped eight points adrift of their Welsh visitors after a sloppy defensive display at Stoke, Watford now need to pull together a strong solid performance and ideally score first if want to stop their dip in home form otherwise they can forget the play-offs for this season.

Wrexham meanwhile had to largely play on the defensive against a possession-dominant Swansea which paid off because they were solid yet clinical when they broke forward, which will give them confidence coming into this tricky visit given their away woes at Vicarage Road.

In fact that defensive approach might help Wrexham because all the pressure is on Watford who need a win realistically to keep their play-off hopes alive, but Wrexham could just be too strong on the counter-attack.

Prediction: Watford 1-2 Wrexham

Result: Watford 3-1 Wrexham
