Promotion-chasing Middlesbrough host Charlton in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory could move second-placed Middlesbrough to within two points of the summit if Coventry lose at home to Preston, whilst Charlton can climb as high as 16th with a win if Norwich and QPR both lose elsewhere.
Team News
Dael Fry is ruled out for Middlesbrough after he suffered a minor hamstring injury during their 4-0 victory at QPR on Sunday.
Alex Bangura (muscle), Alfie Jones (ankle), Sammy Silvera (foot) and Darragh Lenihan (Achilles) remain ruled out.
Charlton could welcome goalkeeper, Thomas Kaminski back from a hamstring injury.
Luke Berry, Reece Burke (both thigh), Josh Edwards, Harvey Knibbs (both ankle), Matty Godden and Collins Sichenje (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Middlesbrough host Charlton at Riverside Stadium on Wednesday 11 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Middlesbrough have lost one of their last 13 league meetings against Charlton (W10, D2, L1).
- Charlton are winless in their last six league visits to Middlesbrough (D1, L5), since they won 3-0 in August 2005.
- Two of Boro’s last three wins against Charlton were by 1-0 results, whilst they won their recent clash 2-1 at The Valley in December.
- No Boro player this season has drawn more fouls than Aidan Morris (73).
- Charlton have claimed six points in their five away matches in the Championship so far in 2026 (W1, D3, L1).
Prediction
Having clinically dispatched QPR in a dominant display at Loftus Road, Middlesbrough are coming into this home game back to their best so I just want to see them continue that momentum as this is a chance to build some momentum heading into Saturday’s tricky clash against Bristol City.
Charlton meanwhile are pretty much on course for safety so I expect them to bring some fight given that this is a free hit in a game where they’re underdogs, especially after their clinical home win against Birmingham in which they were the better team attack wise.
I however do expect this to be a routine Boro win on current form but Charlton shouldn’t be underestimated with one loss in their last five away trips.
Prediction: Middlesbrough 2-1 Charlton
Result: Middlesbrough 0-1 Charlton
