Bromley manager, Andy Woodman believes that getting victory at home to Oldham is “important” for their promotion bid.
Bromley are currently four points clear of second-placed Cambridge after Michael Cheek’s brace of penalties sealed a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley, and the Ravens now host Oldham tomorrow (3 March) in a rearranged match after a frozen pitch caused the original fixture to be postponed in early January.
Oldham though beat Woodman’s Ravens in the reverse fixture at Boundary Park in September 2025, and are now looking to become the first team to end Bromley’s unbeaten league form at home this season.
Woodman in his pre-match preview however has refused to read too much into that away defeat to the Latics as he felt that his team were unfortunate not to snatch a point.
“Yeah I mean I won’t look into that result too much because on the day, I thought we were unlucky not to get something that day. Um but that said they beat us. Um and it’ll be tough again. We just got to make sure that we just concentrate what we do.”
Bromley are coming into this fixture off the back of their win over Accrington Stanley but Woodman feels that accruing points is the priority, as he reflected on that result last weekend.
“I think it’s just about the points at this stage of the season. Um I thought we were unlucky to not get a few more goals. Um, but that said, you know, three points is the most important thing at this stage of the season and the way we controlled the game at the end shows a bit of maturity about the group.
“So, um, yeah really happy that we got those three points in the bag.”
Only Kyle Cameron is still ruled out with an ankle injury but Woodman is pleased with his squad depth for the run-in, as he urged his players to treat their remaining games as cup finals.
“Yeah, we’ve got options all over the place now. We’ve got squad fully fit, everyone to choose from. So, it makes it great for me to choose whoever I want. Um, equally it makes it tricky to leave one or two out of the squad completely.
“But, um, that’s where we’re at. It’s the business end of the season now. We got to make sure that every game is a cup final for us and every game we make sure we get the points.”
Despite the buzz around a typical promotion push when clubs are fighting at the summit of League Two, Bromley this season have refused to get carried away and Woodman admitted that they’ve stayed composed even after their win last Saturday.
“Yeah I can assure you they didn’t enjoy it for long. Literally straight after the game. It’s focused onto tonight’s game. Well, sorry, Tuesday’s game. Uh and you know, it’s an important game for us.
“You know, Oldham are flying at the moment. Um, three wins, three clean sheets, change his shape, good manager, very astute manager. Um so that’s going to be a really tough test for us.
“If we can come through that test then um you know I think you’re seeing the table looking a bit more comfortable.”
With a huge crowd expected for the clash, Woodman has urged supporters to forget about a night in watching ITV’s The Chase and instead get down to the Copperjax Stadium to support the team in their promotion push.
“I mean I would be disappointed if we’re not sold out on Tuesday. And if um if you’re thinking about coming or thinking about staying in, come. We need you. We need you to come and get these boys behind, you know, behind this team, behind me. Um and you know, like I keep saying, you know, why wouldn’t you come? There’s something going on down there at the moment.
“We need everybody to come out and support these guys because it means the world to them and it really makes, you know, us part of the community and the community backing us. So it’s really important that if you’re 50/50 or you’re not sure, you’re thinking about watching the Chasers, don’t bother, come and watch us.”
