Campos have announced that Patrick Heuzenroeder will deputise for Ernesto Rivera at the 2026 F3 season-opener due to injury.
Rivera had missed pre-season due to a back injury caused by an on-track winter during his preparations over winter, and the 17-year old Mexican has now been ruled out of the season opener on medical grounds.
Heuzenroeder consequently has again received the call-up for the trip to Melbourne, Australia after he stepped into the cockpit for pre-season testing.
This decision meant that 20-year old Heuzenroeder who hails from Sydney will now compete in his home event, of which he is graciously aware that he faces a tough debut due to having only spent three days in the car in pre-season.
“I’m very excited to be given this opportunity to make my debut in F3 at my home Grand Prix,” explained Heuzenroeder. “It will be a steep learning curve, but I am looking forward to it and can’t wait to get on track!
“Thank you to my supporters and family for this opportunity.”
The 2026 F3 season commences on weekend of 6-8 March.
