Celtic have signed defender, Benjamin Arthur on loan from Brentford until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Arthur’s loan continues his breakthrough season after having made his senior debut earlier this season for Brentford in their Carabao Cup third-round victory over Aston Villa on penalties, which was followed by a fourth-round appearance in a 5-0 victory at Grimsby.
He then featured as a substitute in the Bees’ FA Cup third-round victory at Sheffield Wednesday but has now been allowed to make his first loan move of his career, as he joins Celtic to gain regular playing time and first-team experience.
In his first interview with celticfc.com, the 20-year-old defender spoke of his pride at joining a top club on loan and is keen to bring success to Celtic, as they battle for the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and UEFA Europa League titles.
“I am really honoured and happy to be joining Celtic. It is one of the world’s biggest clubs, so it’s a really exciting move for me.
“I know we have a quality squad with guys who have won so much already, and I can’t wait to join them and hopefully play my part in bringing more success to the club and to our fans.
“We have a lot of challenges ahead and I am ready for them and ready to do all I can to help the club achieve all it can.”
Interim manager, Martin O’Neill added: “I’m really happy that we have brought Benjamin to the club, and I think he can be a very important addition to our squad during the remainder of the season.
“He is an excellent player, with real attributes, good height, strength and speed and I know he can only help and improve the squad across the number of games which we will face over the next few months.”
