2025-26 UEFA Europa League: League Phase – Forest vs Ferencvaros

Nottingham Forest face Ferencvaros in their final league-phase fixture in the 2025-26 UEFA Europa League.

Victory could see Forest qualify for the Round of 16 with a top-eight finish if results elsewhere miraculously go in their favour, whilst Ferencvaros can secure a top-eight finish with a win.

Team News

Elliot Anderson is suspended for Forest after he was controversially red carded in their defeat at Braga in their last Europa League outing.

Manager, Sean Dyche otherwise has no fresh injury or suspension concerns after their 2-0 Premier League victory at Brentford.

John Victor and Chris Wood (both knee) are still ruled out.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Omari Hutchinson and Jair Cunha are ineligible, alongside loanee – Lorenzo Lucca who can’t be registered for the squad until the knockout stages.

Ferencvaros will be without Tom Raemaekers due to suspension following an accumulation of yellow cards.

Stefan Gartenmann is sidelined with a knee injury.

When is Kick-Off?

Forest host Ferencvaros at the City Ground on Thursday 29 January at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 3 in the UK.

Prediction

After their wasteful display at Braga last Thursday, Forest certainly rebounded with a clinical display at Brentford despite having been outplayed for large chunks which will give them confidence, but I do think that they need a miracle to finish eighth now so this game is about building momentum really.

Ferencvaros meanwhile are a tough team to beat as they’re currently unbeaten in the league phase despite keeping a single clean sheet, so their defence is there for the taking but they do have the attack to really cause issues given that three of their four wins have been by single-goal margins.

This clash therefore does feel like it will have plenty of action as Forest must win and hope that somehow the stars elsewhere align in their favour, whereas Ferencvaros must avoid defeat to secure a top-eight finish so a draw feels like a safe guess.

Prediction: Forest 1-1 Ferencvaros

Result: Forest 4-0 Ferencvaros
