Charlton Athletic have signed forward, Lyndon Dykes from Birmingham City for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Dykes had made just three starts in his 23 total appearances for Birmingham this season in which he scored two goals, which led the Blues to accept an undisclosed offer from Championship rivals, Charlton as the 30-year-old Scotland international look for regular game time.
Speaking to www.charltonafc.com about his move, Dykes revealed that he is excited to start a new chapter in South London.
“I’m super pleased and I can’t wait to get going. It’s going to be really exciting for myself and my family, and I think there’s going to be good times to come.”
Addicks manager, Nathan Jones added: “We’re delighted to bring Lyndon to the club. He’s a big, physical striker who works hard, scores goals and brings plenty of Championship experience, giving us another strong option in attack.”
Charlton’s Managing Director, James Rodwell explained that boosting the squad with experienced Championship players is their main priority, hence the decision to sign Dykes.
“During this transfer window we wanted to add Championship experience and quality to our striking options, so we’re really pleased to sign Lyndon. He’s played more than 150 Championship games and has shown he can be an impactful player in this league, so we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the club.”
