Right-back, Harrison Ashby has joined Bradford City on loan from Newcastle United until the end of 2025-26 season.

Ashby had spent the first half of the season playing for Newcastle’s Under-23s and in and around the first team squad despite making no senior appearances, having spent last season on loan at QPR where he made 31 appearances in all competitions.

The 24-year-old right-back is now keen to get back to regular football at Bradford following discussions with manager, Graham Alexander, as he spoke to bradfordcityafc.com about his loan move.

“I am just delighted to finally get it done. I am here now to play football and help the team.

“After a call with the manager, you get a feeling about whether it is the right move for you. Straight after the call, I said to my agent, ‘that is where I want to be’, this is the perfect place for me.”

Alexander added that Ashby will bring Championship experience after loan spells at Swansea and QPR in last two seasons, but has iterated that the right-back will be mainly playing in a wing-back role for the Bantams.

“Harrison comes in with Championship experience and excellent quality. He has been positionally adaptable in his previous loans, but we see him mainly competing for the wing-back role in our system.

“I am sure he will enjoy his time here and find an environment where he can showcase his talent.”

Ashby will link up with fellow Magpie, Joe White at Valley Parade after the attacking midfielder completed his move earlier this morning (13 January), with the pair set to make their Bradford debuts against Cardiff in a top of Sky Bet League One clash on 17 January at 12:30pm GMT.
