2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week 18 – Saturday

Coventry continue their march towards the Xmas summit in the Sky Bet Championship as they host Charlton Athletic.

Victory could put Coventry as much as 13 points clear at the summit depending on results elsewhere, whilst Charlton could climb as high as ninth depending on results elsewhere.

Team News

Coventry will be without Brandon Thomas-Asante after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 4-2 victory at Middlesbrough in midweek.

Oliver Dovin (knee) and Haji Wright (quad) remain absent.

Charlton have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-0 loss at Stoke in midweek.

Matty Godden (knee0 and Charlie Kelman (muscle) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Coventry host Charlton at CBS Arena on Saturday 29 November at 3pm GMT, albeit untelevised in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Coventry have lost just one of their last six meetings against Charlton (W3, D2, L1).
  • Charlton are winless in their last six league visits to Coventry (D4, L2).
  • This is Charlton’s first trip to Coventry in the month of November.
  • Coventry are yet to lose at home this season (W6, D2).
  • Charlton have scored one goal and conceded nine goals in their last three matches (L3).

Prediction

Aware that Middlesbrough was a difficult place to go given the hosts’ home form this season, Coventry were absolutely brilliant in their clinical finishing on quick attacks at opposite ends of the match, albeit whilst soaking up defending for much of the game.

Frank Lampard though should be worried at how sloppy their defensive marking was for Morgan Whittaker’s goal whilst Bobby Thomas’ own-goal was just embarrassing, and they did get lucky that Tommy Conway missed a sitter otherwise they would of deserved to lose from 2-0 up.

Charlton meanwhile need to absolutely tighten up defensively because their last two first-half displays against Southampton and Stoke have been pretty awful, of which they can’t afford an encore here otherwise this could very well be over early on such is Coventry’s attacking momentum currently.

As much as I do hope that Nathan Jones’ Addicks can bring some fight to this game, I just can’t see Coventry losing this but both defences are hardly anything to rave about at the minute.

Prediction: Coventry 3-1 Charlton

Result: Coventry 3-1 Charlton
