Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has vowed to “try and perform as best” as he can to keep his title defence alive at 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

After his comeback drive from the pit lane to third in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Verstappen sits 49 points behind title leader, Lando Norris who just needs to outscore the reigning champion by nine points in Las Vegas to eliminate him from championship contention.

Verstappen however has iterated in Red Bull’s preview that his drive in Sao Paulo shows that he hasn’t given up on salvaging an unlikely title defence.

Brazil was a special race for us, I didn’t think that a podium was possible but it really was an incredible turnaround by the Team and shows we never give up.

“As we head to the last triple header, it is the final stretch to the end of the season; we will try and perform as best we can and keep pushing as we have nothing to lose.”

Verstappen however is wary of the forecast cold temperatures which will put importance on tyre management, but reflected that he has great memories – having won the inaugural Las Vegas GP in 2023 then wrapped up the title last season in Sin City with a fifth-placed finish.

“Vegas is a fast circuit, there is low downforce and temperatures look pretty low this week so we will need to be managing our tyres well. We have great memories at this track, winning the Championship here in Vegas last year, so hopefully we have another positive performance on Sunday too.”
