Trevoh Chalobah and James Trafford have been recalled to the England squad as replacements for Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope respectively.
Gordon missed Newcastle’s 3-1 loss at Brentford in the Premier League last Sunday (9 November) due to a hip injury, and has now withdrawn from international duty to focus on his recovery.
Manager, Thomas Tuchel consequently opted not to call up another winger to replace Gordon and instead boosted the defensive options with Chalobah, who had been left out of the squad in September and October’s international windows.
Marc Guehi meanwhile joined up with the squad after he missed Crystal Palace’s goalless draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, due to a foot injury which is undergoing assessment by England and Palace’s medical teams in consultation.
Pope has been withdrawn in line with concussion protocols which saw him substituted during Newcastle’s defeat to Keith Andrews’ Bees’, with Tuchel having opted to recall James Trafford who had been replaced by Pope in the initial squad announcement.
England will play Serbia on Thursday 13 November at Wembley Stadium, London, in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off in their last 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at home, before their qualifying campaign concludes with a trip to Albania on Sunday 16 November at 6pm CET (5pm GMT).
