Brentford meet Newcastle United in a mid-table encounter in 2025-26 Premier League.
Victory could put Brentford as high as tenth if Aston Villa fail to win elsewhere, whilst Newcastle can go tenth themselves if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Team News
Brentford will welcome Benjamin Arthur back from a shin injury which kept him out of their defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo remain sidelined with knee injuries.
Newcastle could be without Anthony Gordon due to a recurrence of his hip injury in their 2-0 Champions League win against Athletic Bilbao.
William Osula however is definitely ruled out with an ankle injury.
Tino Livramento, Yoane Wissa (both knee) and Harrison Ashby (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford host Newcastle at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 9 November at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have won just one of eight previous Premier League meetings against Newcastle (W1, D1, L6).
- Newcastle have won three and lost one of their four previous Premier League trips to Brentford (W3, L1).
- This is Brentford’s first meeting against Newcastle without Thomas Frank at the helm in all competitions since January 2017 when they lost 2-1 at home in the Championship.
- Kevin Schade has been booked in each of Brentford’s last three league matches at home.
- Jacob Murphy has scored the opening goal in Newcastle’s last two league games (W1, L1).
Prediction
Brentford were simply outplayed at Crystal Palace last weekend until they found their attacking groove just too late so I would like to seem them switch on earlier, as this is winnable if they can bring their best attacking football to the fore earlier in the game.
Newcastle meanwhile feel like an inconsistent team at present because it’s like they have decided that their Carabao Cup title defence and the Champions League are the priorities, as evidenced by their poor league form compared to their clinical dominant play against Athletic Bilbao.
It is therefore a tough game to call because it depends on how early the attacking quality of both teams turn up and if Newcastle can consolidate once they scored first, having imploded at West Ham last Sunday after their fourth-minute opener.
A draw therefore feels like the safe guess here.
Prediction: Brentford 1-1 Newcastle
Result: Brentford 3-1 Newcastle
