Gainsborough Trinity look to cause a FA Cup giant-killing against Accrington Stanley in the first round.
Victory would see Gainsborough progress to the second round for the second consecutive season, whilst Accrington are looking to avoid a second first-round exit in three seasons.
Team News
Gainsborough have no reported injury concerns to report ahead of this tie.
Accrington could welcome Isaac Sinclair (toe) and Josh Smith (ankle) back into the matchday squad.
When is Kick-Off?
Gainsborough Trinity host Accrington Stanley at The Northolme on Sunday 2 November at 5:15pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK – although TNT Sports 1 will also simulcast the match once Port Vale’s tie against Maldon & Tiptree concludes.
Stat Attack
- This is Gainsborough’s first FA Cup meeting against Accrington Stanley.
- Accrington are making their first competitive visit to Gainsborough.
- Gainsborough didn’t keep a clean sheet in the Qualifying rounds (W4, D1).
- Accrington have won three of their last four FA Cup ties against Non-League opposition (W3, L1).
Prediction
Despite not keeping clean sheets in the Qualifying Rounds, Gainsborough again showed that they can’t be written off despite their seventh-tier status with their attacking quality, but their defence is their Achilles heel with no clean sheets in their last eight games.
Accrington meanwhile aren’t much better themselves defensively but their form of one win in seven games is a worry as they battle for League Two survival, so it will be interesting to see what team is put out by manager – John Doolan, as this is winnable but EFL safety is the priority.
Either way I am expecting a good scrap but with home advantage, Gainsborough probably can pull off the cupset if they’re the better defensive team on the day.
Prediction: Gainsborough Trinity 2-1 Accrington Stanley
Result: Gainsborough Trinity 1-2 (AET) Accrington Stanley
