Taylor Hinds, Katie Reid and Lucia Kendall have been given their maiden England call-ups for friendlies against Brazil and Australia.

Captain, Leah Williamson is ruled out after she suffered a knee injury in the UEFA Women’s Euro final, which saw England defend their crown on penalties.

Sarina Wiegman has consequently called up Williamson’s uncapped Arsenal teammates, Hinds and Reid for their first international senior caps for England, with Hinds having previously represented Jamaica in a single appearance in 2024.

Millie Bright meanwhile has now retired from international football, having initially withdrawn from the Euros for personal reasons.

Lauren Hemp and Lauren James miss out up front due to injury and Wiegman has used their absences to recall Laura Blindkilde Brown and Missy Bo Kearns, who were both on the stand-by list for the Euros.

Aston Villa’s Kendall has also received her first call-up in an strengthened midfield.

Hannah Hampton, Khiara Keating and Anna Moorhouse retained their places in the goalkeeping selection.

Wiegman reflected on the Euro title defence as she spoke of the upcoming friendlies as a chance to test the squad ahead of 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying, which will commence in early 2026.

“It’s great to be back and we’re really looking forward to playing in front of our fantastic home support again after such an incredible summer in Switzerland. We felt the energy from the stands throughout the tournament and we’re grateful to have our fans with us again in October and November.

“In Brazil and Australia we’ll be facing two top opponents who will each test us in different ways, which is exactly the kind of challenge we need as we prepare for World Cup qualification starting early next year.

“It’s lovely to celebrate success but this is also the start of a new cycle with new opportunities and objectives. I cannot wait to get everyone together and started next week.”

England will face Brazil on Saturday 25 October at Etihad Stadium, Manchester, in a 5:30pm BST kick-off, live on ITV1 in the UK, as the pair meet ahead of next year’s Women’s Finalissima clash – of which exact details remain unconfirmed.

Wiegman’s Lionesses then will play Australia on Tuesday 28 October at Pride Park, Derby, in a 7pm GMT kick-off, live on ITV4 for UK-based fans.

Both fixtures will also be streamed live on ITVX in the UK.
