McLaren Team Principal, Andrea Stell described consecutive constructor titles as an “incredible” achievement in a tough 2025 Singapore Grand Prix.

Having needed just 13 points to secure consecutive constructor titles for the first time since 1988-91 seasons, McLaren achieved the feat with a third-placed for Lando Norris whilst Oscar Piastri finished fourth as his title lead over Norris was trimmed to 22 points.

Celebrations however were tainted by a first-lap collision between the pair at Turn 3 as Norris executed an inside move but clipped the rear of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who was slow getting out of the corner, which caused him to nearly nudge Piastri into the outside wall unintentionally.

Piastri consequently wasn’t amused as he complained over team radio but McLaren decided to address the incident internally post race, which only infuriated the Australian who subsequently told them to “do whatever you think is best” when asked about soft tyres if had a late safety car.

Stella though was more focused post-race on the team’s wrap-up of the constructors’ title as he explained to the team’s website that he was relieved to achieve it with six rounds left this season, having won the title in 2024 at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

“For the second year in a row, McLaren are the Constructors’ Champions, an incredible feeling to end a very competitive weekend in Singapore!

“Last year, it went all the way to the final lap of the final race, so to be able to secure the title with six races to go in the 2025 season is an unbelievable effort from the entire team.”

“Our race pace was strong today against our closest competitors, although it was hard to take advantage in the dirty air. Both Lando and Oscar demonstrated their exceptional talent to secure an important result for the team, as we’ve seen on many occasions this season.”

Stella proceeded to thank the whole team both trackside and at their factory in Woking, England, as he praised them “for their incredible effort.”

With the drivers’ title still at stake and Verstappen lurking 63 points behind Piastri, Stella iterated that McLaren will stay focused until the season’s end.

“It’s great that our teamwork is rewarded like this, but we must enjoy the moment this evening and then turn our attention to preparing for a competitive challenge in the final six races of the season.”

Piastri insisted that although there will be a “review as a team”, everyone deserved to enjoy the “proud” moment to have the constructors’ title wrapped up now.

“I am very proud of this team. We’ve won back-to-back Constructors’ Championships, something we are all so proud of. It’s been a really good season so far, and to win it this early in the year is a great achievement. A massive congrats to the whole team, and thank you for all of the hard work.”

Norris echoed Piastri’s feeling on celebrating another title together but aligned with Stella’s point about getting back to work quickly, in order to secure the drivers’ title as he seeks to overturn a 22-point deficit and has the better form than Piastri at the next four circuits.

“Huge congratulations to everyone in the team who has played their part in achieving this remarkable success, they’ve done an incredible job, and we’ve achieved this together.

“We’ll make sure we celebrate this properly as a team and then get straight back to work for the rest of the season.”
