2025-26 Premier League: Week Seven – Brentford vs Man City

Brentford host Manchester City in a mouth-watering Premier League encounter.

If Everton and Brighton fail to win elsewhere in the mid-afternoon kick-offs, victory would lift Brentford up to ninth in the table.

Man City can climb to fifth with a win if Crystal Palace fail to beat Everton.

Team News

Gustavo Nunes could make his first competitive appearance of the season for Brentford, having recovered from a hamstring injury suffered in pre-season.

Fabio Carvalho (knee) and Reiss Nelson (illness) could also return but Paris Maghoma (hamstring) remains absent.

Man City have no fresh injury concerns after their 2-2 draw at Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Rayan Cherki (hamstring), Omar Marmoush (knee), Rayan Ait-Nouri and Abdukodir Khusanov (both ankle) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford host Man City at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 5 October at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford are winless in their last four meetings against Man City (D1, L3).
  • Man City have lost one of their four previous Premier League trips to Brentford (W2, D1, L1).
  • City’s last five goals away at Brentford have been scored by Phil Foden (W1, D1).
  • Brentford manager, Keith Andrews has deployed the 4-2-3-1 formation in four of the Bees’ six league games so far this season.
  • No Man City player has been involved in more league goals this season than Erling Haaland (9), with the Norwegian having scored eight goals and created one assist in six appearances.

Prediction

Having clinically dispatched Man Utd in an energetic attacking display last weekend, Brentford now need to bring that same intensity but an equally robust defence if want to stop an in-form but leaky Man City side.

City though will be wary of the Bees because although they’ve lost just one of their four previous Premier League visits, they have definitely been tested in those four trips and shouldn’t expect any less despite some key players having departed Brentford this summer.

Phil Foden will also have a point to prove to England manager – Thomas Tuchel after his latest snub and given that the Gtech is one of his favourite away playgrounds, I expect him to deliver for City as long as they don’t concede from in front like they did in Monaco twice.

Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Man City

Result: Brentford 0-1 Man City
