Arsenal continue their Premier League title challenge with a London derby at home to West Ham.
Victory would move Arsenal onto the summit of the table for at least a few hours, whilst West Ham can climb out of the relegation zone and up to 15th with a win until at least Sunday afternoon.
Team News
Gabriel is set to be available for Arsenal despite having suffered a knock in their midweek 2-0 Champions League victory at home to Olympiacos.
Piero Hincapie (groin), Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus (all knee) remain sidelined.
West Ham could welcome Jean-Clair Todibo back after he missed their 1-1 draw at Everton due to a lack of fitness.
George Earthy however is ruled out after he suffered a hamstring injury whilst playing for the Under-21s.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (stomach) and Tomas Soucek (suspension) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Arsenal host West Ham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday 4 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have avoided defeat in three of their last five league meetings against West Ham (W2, D1, L2).
- West Ham have won two of their last nine league visits to Arsenal (W2, L7).
- Arsenal have conceded three goals in their last two home games against West Ham without scoring (L2).
- Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have kept two clean sheets in three league games at home this season (W2, D1).
- Jarrod Bowen has produced more touches in the opposition box than any other West Ham player this season (27).
Prediction
After their gutsy fightback to beat Newcastle last Sunday, Arsenal comfortably dispatched Olympiacos on Wednesday evening in a clinical display – even though patience was needed against defensively resilient opposition, but they will be favourites here if can target the Hammers’ weak defence.
West Ham though will have had four days of proper intensive training under Nuno Espirito Santo after their scrappy draw at Everton – having had just two days to adapt to his style beforehand, so I expect a more solid performance if can defend as well as they did on Merseyside after a slow start.
Arsenal however will really have too much for West Ham such is the momentum and defensive resilience within the home team, who have conceded just three goals this season.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 West Ham
