Wolves host Leeds in a huge Premier League clash between two teams struggling for form.
Victory would lift Wolves off the foot of the table and potentially up to 18th if West Ham lose at home to Crystal Palace.
Leeds can climb as high as eighth depending on results elsewhere amongst the 3pm kick-offs.
Team News
Jorgen Strand Larsen could return for Wolves after he missed their last two matches due to an Achilles injury.
Jose Sa (illness) and Ki-Jana Hoever (knee) face late fitness checks, whilst Leon Chiwone (knee) remains ruled out.
Leeds could be without Dan James after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury in their 1-0 defeat at Fulham.
Wilfried Gnonto (calf), Ao Tanaka (knee) and Joel Piroe (calf) face late fitness checks but goalkeeper, Lucas Perri (quad) remains absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves host Leeds at Molineux on Saturday 20 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have lost three of their last six Premier League meetings against Leeds (W2, D1, L3).
- Leeds have won two of four previous Premier League trips to Molineux (W2, L2).
- Ex Leeds player, Rodrigo scored in each of Leeds’ last four league meetings against Wolves
- Hugo Bueno has made more interceptions than any other Wolves player this season (5).
- Failure to score would see Leeds go four league games without a goal for the first time since February – March 2022.
Prediction
Although they’re winless still, Wolves certainly gave Newcastle a competitive fight on Tyneside but just lacked a clinical final touch – which was evident without Strand Larsen’s presence, whilst a small defensive error cost them so hopefully they can take heart and bring more composure into this game.
Leeds meanwhile lacked much accuracy in their end product at Fulham and now face going four league matches without a goal, which is a marked contrast to the team which were ruthless in the Championship last season and showed just how much they’ve underestimated the step up.
Daniel Farke’s Whites though will take heart from Wolves’ own issues but they can’t underestimate the hosts’ attacking ability, especially because both teams know that winning this type of fixture could be critical come end of season so I expect a tough scrap and a point apiece.
Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Leeds
Result: Wolves 1-3 Leeds
