2025-26 Premier League: Week Five – Liverpool vs Everton

Liverpool continue their Premier League title defence against Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season.

Victory or a draw will keep Liverpool top of the table, whilst Everton can climb to second with a win.

Team News

Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to report following their Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid, with only Curtis Jones (knock) still ruled out.

Everton could welcome defender, Vitaliy Mykolenko back into contention after he missed their goalless draw at home to Aston Villa with an unspecified injury, although he faces a late fitness test.

Jarrad Branthwaite is still ruled out with a hamstring injury.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Everton at Anfield on Saturday 20 September at 12:30pm BST, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Having battled to a gutsy win over Atletico after letting a 2-0 lead slip, Liverpool certainly seem to have some defensive fragilities which some teams are capable of exposing with the right attacking tactics, but there is no doubting their quality attack which makes them favourites.

Everton meanwhile dominated Villa without a clinical final touch but I do expect them to go defensive with view to playing on the counter attack if want any points here, but their defence can take confidence from that display because they will need to be at their best to quieten the hosts.

I however do think that Liverpool will just have too much but this should be another close battle.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Result: Liverpool 2-1 Everton
